New in the Skywarn Operators Console: Audio Transcriptions

We're excited to roll out a new Transcriptions tab in the Skywarn Operators Console, built on an integration with Boondock's transcription service. If your setup includes a Boondock Echo or Boondock Tango recording your channels, backed by a Boondock Edge Server, you can now search, read, and manage those transcriptions right alongside the rest of your operations — no more scrubbing through recordings to find the moment you need.

What's new

The new Transcriptions tab gives you a dedicated view for everything related to your audio recordings:

• Browse transcriptions with timestamp, ID, channel, and full transcription text, with word wrap so long entries stay readable.
• Download audio recordings directly from the grid (coming soon).
• Highlight keywords that matter to you — set up custom terms with your own colors so critical words jump out at a glance.
• Copy transcriptions to your clipboard with a right-click, ready to paste into reports or messages.
• Control how much you see at once, with a configurable number of records per page (1–100).

Setup is simple, and optional

The integration requires a Boondock Edge Server on your network, along with a Boondock Echo or Tango handling the actual recording. If you're not using Boondock hardware, there's nothing to do — the Transcriptions tab simply stays hidden until it's configured. We'll share full setup steps in a follow-up post once the integration is finalized.

A quick note on where things stand

Boondock is still finalizing some pieces of their API on their end, and as a result, downloading audio recordings from the grid isn't working yet. Everything else in the Transcriptions tab — browsing, keyword highlighting, copying to clipboard, pagination — is fully functional today. We'll update this post once downloads are live.

Also worth noting: this integration was built purely to give operators a useful new tool. We didn't receive any financial benefit from Boondock for adding it — it's just another capability in the Console.
